Dear Kelly,
The 26 basic Brain Gym exercises are described in the “Brain Gym” and the “Brain Gym®, Teacher’s Edition” books by Paul and Gail Dennison. The “Teacher’s Edition” covers the same 26 movements as the “Brain Gym” book while giving more information about, and instruction on, how to do the exercises.
There are 10 of the basic Brain Gym® exercises described in Carla Hannaford’s book “Smart Moves, Why Learning Is Not All In Your Head” which can usually be borrowed through most public libraries in the U.S.. This might be a good place to start teaching the exercises without any cost. There is a lot of physiology about the relationship of movement to the development of learning skills, including left/right hemisphere development, in the first part of Carla’s book. The Brain Gym exercises are pictured and described in chapter 7. Sipping water, which is one of the 26 basic activities in the Brain Gym books, is covered extensively in other parts of her book.
Any of these books can be ordered from Edu-Kinesthetics Inc. on their www.braingym.com web site. There are other books and videos on the basic Brain Gym activities available there also. The more advanced work is taught in classes and facilitated privately by Brain Gym instructor/consultants. Listings for classes and instructor/consultants can be found on the www.braingym.org web site by clicking on the "Find" pull down list link in the blue bar at the top of the home page.
Best Wishes,
Dave Saunders
