Dear Dr. Balter,
While there is no acceptable support for the existence of the meridians there is acceptable research to support acupunture for analgesic purposes, however I did not intend to compare Brain Gym(R) Energy Exercises to acupunture. I am aware of the locations of the areas for the Energy Exercises, went to an acupunture website, and found the points that most closely corresponded with them. Just because there are acupuncture points near the junctions of the carotids and aortas, the ends of two arteries in the brain, etc., does move them to somewhere else in the body, and there is acceptable physiological and massage research that suggests when an area of the body is touched or rubbed the inner walls of the arteries in that area expand to allow more blood flow. As for the Earth and Space buttons the student is experiencing the midline through touch while moving the eyes.
Best Wishes,
Dave Saunders
