Dear Dean,
I don’t know your circumstances. It sounds like you could have possibly been tested under several different environments using several different tests prior to this latest testing which may make your 10 point change significant. You appear to be familiar with testing and seem to think the Brain Gym® activities might have made some difference. I have worked with a student who had a 10 point change in his IQ score within a short period of time but would hesitate to claim Brain Gym solely responsible because of the changes in place of testing, tester, and type of test. These variables alone can cause a variation in test results. I have also heard of a few children who had more significant I.Q. increases that the parents felt were related to their being involved in the Brain Gym activities.
I am much more familiar with the change in reading comprehension. I have had several students tell me in almost the same words you used that they only had to read something once now when they had to read something 5, or even more, times before.
As for the Balance Buttons you are rubbing/holding the ends of a couple of muscles including the Upper Trapezius where they attach at the base of the skull a couple of finger widths behind the Mastoid Process which is an indentation in the bottom edge of the skull a couple of finger widths behind the ear. When I do Balance Buttons I feel my ears clearing and the relaxation of muscles towards the back of my neck.
Best Wishes,
Dave Saunders
